The Crew Safety Research Unit is a collaboration under development between Dalian Maritime University and The Fisheries Law Centre. The objective of this collaboration is to be better able to inform policy makers and researchers on issues relevant to the safety of fishermen in the high seas. The Research Unit will achieve this objective by researching and conducting legal analysis of international laws, regulations, conventions and agreements concerning fisher and seafarer safety, as well as relevant domestic laws.
Specifically, the Research Unit undertakes the following activities:
- Promoting and encouraging joint research projects and other scholarly and instructional cooperation between the two institutions;
- Coordinating possible conferences and submissions to conferences; and
- Exchanging invitations and assignments for visiting faculty/scholars.
